Our story
It began with one oak bench and a joiner friend
Nora Ellison trained as a furniture restorer and grew tired of pieces made to be thrown away. In 2015, in Hudson, New York, she began selling oak benches made by a joiner friend. Today we are a team of 24, still working slowly and choosing materials that age well.

I spent years restoring chairs and tables that had outlived their first owners. New furniture rarely could. So we make fewer things, in oak, linen, wool and clay, and we make them to be re-oiled, mended and handed on.
