Sparkling fruit drinks with something odd in them
Pink grapefruit + black pepper
Pick a flavour.
Five of them. One is usually sold out, which we are told is a good sign.
Pink grapefruit + black pepper
Crisp, bitter, lightly spicy.
£2.40Pear + basil
Soft, green, faintly savoury.
£2.40Blood orange + rosemary
Deep, resinous, properly bitter.
£2.40Mango + chilli
Thick fruit, small burn.
£2.40Lemon + elderflower
Sour, floral, very cold.
£2.40 · back in JuneIt's grapefruit.
Then we added pepper.
Fresh grapefruit extract gives it bite. Cracked black pepper sits underneath. A little cane sugar rounds things out.
That is enough.
Mostly fruit.
Not chemistry homework.
Real fruit extracts
What you taste comes from actual fruit extracts, oils and botanicals. Grapefruit peel does more work than the juice does, which surprised us too.
Less sugar
Enough to balance bitterness. Not enough to coat your teeth. Between 4 and 5 g per 100 ml, which is roughly a third of a normal soda.
Actual carbonation
Tiny bubbles. Quite a lot of them. Carbonated cold so they hang around past the first three sips.
A shop fridge with five flavours in it. Pick one on the right.
Go on then.
Open it.
This is roughly what our fridge in a corner shop looks like at 4pm on a Friday. Someone has already taken a mango.
Or use the list below if clicking a fridge feels like a lot of effort.

PULP in real life
Serve cold.
Like, actually cold.
Not “fridge for twenty minutes” cold. Properly cold.
Yes, basil.
No, it doesn't taste like pasta.
We get asked about twice a week.
Make a questionable combination.
Twenty-five combinations. Five of them we actually sell. The rest are opinions.
Fruit goes in one end.
Keep scrolling. Six steps, none of them especially glamorous.
01 Fruit
Whole fruit arrives in crates and gets checked by people with cold hands.
02 Extract
Peel, oil and juice. The bitter parts of the peel do most of the work.
03 Blend
Fruit, water, a small amount of cane sugar, and the herb or spice. Tasted flat first.
04 Fizz
Carbonated cold and hard. Small bubbles, lots of them, holds for longer.
05 Can
Filled, seamed and printed in Leicestershire. 24,000 an hour on a good day.
06 Chill
Then it sits in a fridge somewhere until you pick it up. That bit's yours.
Cold aluminium.
Excellent invention.
Recyclable roughly forever, chills in minutes, and it makes that noise when you open it.

Bought another one yesterday.
The pear one is dangerous.

Finally something that isn't just sugar pretending to be fruit.
— Alex
From: priya.k@ — Subject: the mango situationOrdered the mixed box for the office. The mango ones went in two days and now there is a spreadsheet about whose turn it is.
