[ Our café ]
A flat white for the commute, soup for the long lunch, a pastry for no reason at all,

Crema is a small café on a busy east London corner. We pour espresso from a rotating guest roaster, bake everything on site before sunrise and keep the music low enough to hear yourself think, or loud enough on Fridays.
Visit usGuest roasts, dialled in and ground to order.

Care about extraction ratios? Ask us anything. Don't care? You'll still taste that it's better, every single cup.

Forty seats, one long banquette, a window bar for laptops and a corner that's always taken.

From farm to cup, in four careful steps we are a little obsessive about
Source
We buy from farms and importers we know by name, and only take lots that make the whole team go quiet at the cupping table.
Process
Washed, natural or honey: how a cherry is processed shapes its sweetness, so we pick each lot for how it tastes in milk.
Roast
Our guest roasters profile each coffee for espresso, aiming for something sweet, bright and clean on the finish.
Serve
Then it's over to the bar: weighed, timed and tasted before the doors open, so the first cup is as good as the last.

Reviews

Came in for one coffee and left with a cardamom knot, a new favourite seat and a plan to come back tomorrow. The cocoa cortado is dangerously good.

Regular since opening day

Good wifi, better flat whites and staff who remember your order by the third visit. It's the only café where I actually get work done.

Works from the window bar

We book the big table every other weekend. The cheesecake is the reason, the service is the reason we stay for a third round.

Saturday brunch crowd

My heart looked like a potato for the whole class and nobody minded. Two hours, three coffees, a lot of laughing. Booking again for my sister.

Latte art class, Sat 10am

The pastry box made it through two buses and a toddler intact. Croissants were still flaky at the other end, which I'm told is some sort of miracle.

Picks up a pastry box every Friday

Brown sugar cold brew with the salted cream float. I've tried to make it at home three times and failed three times.

The crew
Coffee people,
Half the team pulls shots, the other half films them. We're baristas, bakers and part-time photographers who think a café should look as good as it tastes.
